Prologue -
August.
McGonagall paced the entrance hall of Hogwarts with an uneasy stride.
Madam Pince had retired last year, so had Filch. She had called upon two young wizards, who had graduated from Quadripehelts only two years ago.
Quadriphelts was another, smaller, institute of magical learning, hidden beneath the rolling hills of Ireland.
Although many hundreds of applicants had made arrangements to meet, McGonagall had insisted that these two young wizards who had never stepped foot in Hogwarts before were to come to live and work in the school grounds.
"They're late." McGonagall whispered to herself, her voice, although intentionaly quiet, carried on through the still summer air, creting an echo.
"I'll think you'll find us on perfect time, Auntie Minerva."
Chapter 1 - The librarian and the blonde girl
The new librarian ran through his list of books, checking to see that they were all in the correct place, in accordence to his new filing system.
"Basics for Beginners... A Theoretical Guide To Defensive Magic...? Well that can be thrown out." He threw the book on a pile of things he was going to throw away.
This new Librarian was called Simon McGonagall. He was tall, with blonde hair that fell around his shoulders with an elegant ease, his eyes were a pale blue, the colour of the morning sky of a crisp winters morning. Books were his life and he would happily compensate his dream to work in the great library. His great dream was to teach the subject he was best at, Denfence Against The Dark Arts. As it was, that job had gone to his friend, Ozan Young. The two of them were very close friends, always had been. Ever since thier first year of school... where Ozan was getting bullied, Simon came running over with his group of friends and warned the bullies away.
Enough reminiscing Simon thought as he started his way through the books again. The musty smell was begining to get to him a little bit, so he crossed the library, and opened a large window with his wand... from the window, he allowed the fresh air to pass through the library, and indulged in the cool breeze.
"Time to stretch my legs I think." He said smiling.
He set off out of the library, to the great hall, where he saw some portraits among them, a landscape portrait of a large group of students, on the frame, a golden plaque with the words "Dumbledore's Army. In honour of thier bravery" Simon knew why the portrait hung there... these were some of the bravest fighters that had battled the dark lord and his followers. One face inperticular caught his eye... She was wearing a gurdyroot... Simon smiled, he had used to wear one in his first year of the institute.
Loud footsteps surrounded the hall behind him. Too heavy to belong to any human, Simon's smile widened, this could only be one person, someone he'd been longing to meet.
"Alrigh' there? Not ter sound rude of anythin'... But who th' ruddy balzes are you?" Yes, it was Hagrid. Rubeus Hagrid, still keeper of the keys and grounds. _________________ Mandragora, if taken in tiny quantities is a halucenagenic, otherwise it'll kill you |
