Do you think the "sherbet lemon" in the first chapter that so annoyed Mcgonagall had any significance to the plot? No, it served the same purpose as "nitwit blubber oddment tweak:" introduction of character
it didnt have significance to the plot, but it had to dumbledore, how he is easy going and can be fun, and then after all that lightness we're shown the reality of him, i think it was smart of jo to do that _________________

In response to the first post, this is similar to JKR's prequel (that she's not working on by the way) when the police ask James and Sirius for names and they start listing names.
