thats not the same as letting him off though. that makes him sound most unSnapely. it implies he just let him have fun at the party. and anyway you said he was letting draco off...and pissing filch off. but actually filch was pissed because snape wasn't letting filch deal with it, but said he'd deal with it himself.

You just sound like you are trying to be arguementative now.

He was pissing Filch off because Malfoy wasn't going to be disciplined enougn. Either way, it's pretty much what I said. It's so nitpicky to say that he was mad that he couldn't discipline him himself. We all know that Filch prefers do to the discipining himself, and I even mentioned that option in my list of things that actually rank in Snape not letting Malfoy off.

Also, what he did is the same as letting Malfoy off. We all know that Snape never just lets loose and enjoys himself. THat doesn't change the fact that Malfoy wasn't being disciplined and Snape was merely giving him a warning about how he was going about his mission.

Did anyone here read the quote I brought? Slughorn let Malfoy off, and Filch was pissed at him, not Snape. On the contrary: when Snape took him away, Slughorn was telling him not to be hard on Malfoy, since he assumed that Snape was going to punish him.

I somehow completely missed it. I should have brought the book out and reread that bit to begin with. I don't remember half of that stuff happening that way. I just remember Malfoy being found sneaking around and not getting in trouble for it, thus pissing Filch off. Gotta love the Filch.

I also remembered Harry overhearing a conversation between Malfoy and Snape on purpose during that party.

I'm not being argumentative...or at least that wasn't my purpose. but I am being nitpicky Razz I still don't see how what you said was the same thing...but whatever. or at least whether you meant that or not, it might give the wrong impression to people who don't remember the scene properly. I wanted to clear that up for them. because they way you worded it, it sounded like he just let him enjoy the party.
