what programs do you use to improve speed and overall perforance of your PC?

I use:
-Tuneup Utilities 2008(drive defrag+more)
-RegCure(registry repair)
-CCleaner(also registry, frees up diskspace)
-AdAware 2007(removes spy- and adware)
-Bootvis(improves boot speed)
-Winsock Fix(fixes network problems)

Disk cleaner
Disk Defragmenter
CCleaner
HP Health Check
Kaspersky Internet Security

All of these run weekly besides the monthly Disk Defragmenter. Anti-Virus helps keep it up to speed, viruses and other threats can easily slow your system down.

I HATE registry cleaners with a passion, only use the cleaning part of CCleaner. I do not trust any registry cleaners, plus the speed you get from them is not all that great, it is kind of a waist of time.

well, after running RegCure and cleaning up over 800 registry errors, my pc was a lot faster. sow it does work, and i haven't had any ussues with regcure.

also, what's the health check and disk cleaner?

Oyeah, i forgot to add the conveniently named: xp_remove_hotfix_backup

it removes useless update backups, which can sometimes take up several GBs.

Health Check is a pre-installed program from HP that checks everything on your PC.

If you want my opinion, stay away from it unless you know what you are doing 100%!

go to Google and type in CCleaner, download it and run it, do NOT use the registry cleaner in CCleaner, only the part that clears the trash out.

well, and if you DO want your registry cleaned up(which can improve your speed drastically), use RegCure. I've never had problems with it, it's easy, fast and it works.

and if you do use registry cleaner in cccleaner then back up when the option comes up, so that if there is an error, you wont have to suffer.
