Radcliffe and other Potter actors to attend Knox funeral

Spoiler:

Last week we told you about the death of Half-Blood Prince actor Rob Knox, who tragically die during a fight in London.

It is now being reported that Dan Radcliffe, along with other unnamed Potter stars, will attend Rob Knox's funeral.

Knox had already filmed his part as Marcus Belby.

Yeah, I think there haas been enough violence. Sad

I was wondering, when one of teh casting directors passed away, they had a little thing at the end of one of the films... I wonder if they'll do the same for Rob Knox.

Save Our Streets

Father of stabbed Harry Potter actor speaks of his loss for the first time
By Neville Thurlbeck

THEY were the three words a desperate father was dreading as he waited in hospital for news on his son who had just been stabbed. "I am sorry..."

But at 1.10am a policewoman walked quietly into the room to deliver the awful message to Colin Knox and the rest of his family—one that would shatter their lives

"I am sorry," she announced. "But Robbie has died."

Last night grief-stricken Colin broke his weeks of silence to relive the fateful night Harry Potter star Robbie was killed—stabbed to death as he protected his younger brother from a knifeman.

The devastated father also put aside his pain to join our Save Our Streets campaign, as we demand tough new laws on carrying knives.

Deluded
He added: "This will stop all those deluded fools who think it's cool or clever to carry a knife."

Speaking from his home in Kent, which he shares with new partner Barbara, 48, Colin opened his heart to the News of the World and recalled the moment the family were told Robbie was gone.

"We were totally numb," he says. "My ex-wife Sally shrieked with the blow of the news and was so overcome she passed out cold. Literally fell unconscious where she was standing.

"She had to be taken to an emergency ward and hooked up to a heart monitor and revived.

"The rest of the family just hugged, cried and kissed each other. We were desperate to comfort and console.

"Sally was sobbing in bed saying, ‘I cannot lie here while my son is lying dead in the next room!

"It was a truly heartbreaking moment."

Robbie was taken to a chapel of rest but, at first, Colin couldn't face seeing his lifeless son.

"I didn't want to have the image of him lying dead imprinted on my memory for the rest of my life," he admits. "Sally went in to see him and came out saying, ‘You really must go and say goodbye. He looks so peaceful, just like he was sleeping'.

"I managed to summon up the courage and go in. Sally was right—Robbie did look peaceful. I leant over to kiss him goodbye as if he was just asleep in his bed.

"But Robbie wasn't asleep. He was icy cold. My son was dead. Killed in a moment of madness."

At that moment, Colin recalled the first time he brought his son home from hospital as a baby.

For the first time, his emotions spilled over into sobs of deep-rooted grief only a father can feel for the loss of his son.

He wept: "I held him in my arms and took him into the garden and said, ‘Welcome to our family, welcome to our lives. I will always be here to protect you'."

Struggling to get his words out, Colin added: "But I wasn't. He died without me there to help him."

The grief stricken father has backed the News of the World's fight to reclaim Britain's streets. As we launch a nationwide petition to end the knife-crime epidemic terrifying this country, Colin joins our demands for tougher sentences on people found carrying knives.

He said: "There needs to be a mandatory, minimum sentence of two years for carrying a knife in public. I strongly back the News of the World campaign to get this on the statute book. All politicians must unite behind this campaign.

"Many of these people take a knife as a fashion accessory, never intending to use it.

"But in the heat of an argument, when they've had a bit to drink, they lose all sense of rationale. In goes the knife and a life is ended."

Actor Robbie was stabbed to death in May after his younger brother Jamie was targeted by the knifeman at a bar.

Blades
Rob, 18, who plays Ravenclaw student Marcus Belby in the new Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince movie, stepped in when Jamie, 16, was threatened by a thug wielding two blades.

The talented and popular youngster, who also appeared in ITV1 drama The Bill, was stabbed in the chest shortly after midnight outside the Metro Bar in Sidcup, Kent.

Three of his pals suffered knife wounds as they bravely fought to subdue the attacker and Jamie was slashed in the chest.

Only hours earlier, by a tragic twist of fate, the murdered teenager was cheerfully singing the lyrics to the Bob Dylan song, Knockin' On Heaven's Door.

Colin added: "I got a frantic call from Rob's mother around midnight. She was shouting, ‘Rob's been stabbed! Rob's been stabbed!' I jumped in the car and headed straight for Sidcup hospital. I was in a daze when I arrived and was shown to a place they called ‘the quiet room'.

"Inside were all my family and there was deathly silence.

"My heart was pounding. I was desperate for some good news but the next hour seemed to go on for ever.

"We all just looked at the door, waiting and waiting for someone to come and tell us he was okay.

"If they came to us with those three words, ‘I am sorry', I knew Robbie would be dead."

Unemployed Karl Bishop, 21, has been charged with Rob's murder and wounding with intent, and is due to appear at the Old Bailey in September.

The incident happened less than three miles from where Jimmy Mizen, 16, was stabbed to death two weeks earlier as he tried to help his brother in a bakery. He and Rob had played in the same rugby club together.

Rob, a 6ft 1in gentle, intelligent young man, was bullied at school but emerged as a courageous champion of assault victims himself. Leaving school with nine GCSEs and two A-levels, he went straight into acting, auditioning for a part in the Harry Potter movie last year.

He wasn't expecting to land the role but the good news came in a phone call from his agent.

Colin smiled: "Rob was elated and we were so proud of him. He got on well with all the cast, some of whom told me that Rob was a breath of fresh air. He made coming to work a joy for everyone. The director even told him that his part would be expanded for the next movie.

United
"He was always laughing and being a bit cheeky. Just a really likeable lad."

Colin, a 55-year-old production controller for IPC magazines, split from wife Sally last year. But they were united in grief at his funeral.

Colin said: "Robbie had gone to Spain with a pal recently and told him that if he died, he didn't want anyone wearing black at the funeral.

"He also wanted Krispy Kreme doughnuts at the wake. We honoured this request—it's the funeral he wanted."

On Friday, Robbie received a posthumous bravery award for helping detain two men who launched a vicious assault on another man in the Marks and Spencer shop where he worked part-time last year.

The bravery award includes the citation: "When a serious assault took place in Marks and Spencer at Bluewater on 24 May 2007, Robert Knox was one of five members of store staff to put thoughts of his own safety aside and pursue the offenders."

Ironically, that day was exactly a year to the day from his final act of bravery, when he died protecting his young brother.

Proud dad Colin ended with a rallying cry to country's politicians and our youth. Rising once again from his grief, he warned: "If you carry a knife, there are no winners, only losers.

"One stab with a knife and it's all over for someone. And it's all over for literally hundreds of people who know and love that person.

"That is why the government must listen to the News of the World's campaign to clean up our streets.

"It's now time to stop the talking and take action."
