On a personal matter, I've seen this topic started on many other forums I used to go on and didn't see it on the other pages.

My favorite World Leaders:

- Franklin Roosevelt - A perfect role model, got the country out of the Great Depression in 8 years (not counting the years Hoover was in office). Also ruled the country for years to come.

- Vladimir Putin - Sad to see him replaced by Mendedev, but he got Russia back up into a world power within years. From the economical depression up to what they are today.

Golda Meir

Spoiler:

"Let me tell you something that we Israelis have against Moses. He took us 40 years through the desert in order to bring us to the one spot in the Middle East that has no oil!"

"A leader who doesn't hesitate before he sends his nation into battle is not fit to be a leader."

"Don't be so humble, you're not that great."

"We don't thrive on military acts. We do them because we have to, and thank God we are efficient."

"Women's liberation is just a lot of foolishness. It's men who are discriminated against. They can't bear children. And no one is likely to do anything about that."

Abraham Lincoln

Zhou Enlai :
Spoiler:

Zhou Enlai (simplified Chinese: 周恩来; traditional Chinese: 周恩來; pinyin: Zhōu Ēnlái; Wade-Giles: Chou En-lai, March 5, 1898 – January 8, 1976), was Premier of the People's Republic of China from 1949 until his death in January 1976, and China's foreign minister from 1949 to 1958. Zhou was instrumental in the Communist Party's rise to power, and subsequently in the construction of the Chinese economy and reformation of Chinese society. On the international scene Zhou was a skilled and able diplomat, having advocated peaceful coexistence and been a participant at the Geneva Conference in 1954. As a result of his moral character, he was very popular with the Chinese public, and Zhou's death brought an outpouring of support which turned out to be crucial in China's transition of power between Mao Zedong and Deng Xiaoping. He is also remembered for saying, when asked for his assessment of the 1789 French Revolution, "It is too early to say". [1]

Forgive me for working backwards chronologically, but this is the best order.

Franklin D. Roosevelt - Probably the only U.S. President who properly ran the economy, and created the biggest economic turn-around in United States history. He also got us through WWII - he wasn't taking any isolationist bull from anyone who didn't want to mess with Hitler.

Thomas Paine - The true founder of freedom in America. His pamphlet single-handedly caused the vast majority of American colonists to become revolutionaries rather than loyalists.

Voltaire - The backbone for all the freedoms and rights that we claim to fight for today. As the founder of the Freedom of Speech idealogy, Voltaire needs no explanation.

Well if you think realistically if Obama wins, people will attempt to assaisinate him. Someone may succeed. There are still racsists in the US.

Oh, I'm sure someone will attempt to kill him, there are always attempts to kill the president. White, Black, republican, democrat. Doesn't matter, it seems. There will always be some crazy person unhappy with the government. It's sad though, it doesn't make the killers any better than terrorists.

Well, most of the presidents if not all of them that have been assasinated have been democrats and pro-equal rights.

Actually most of them were Republicans... and except for Lincoln, none of the others were notoriusly known for their equal rights agendas.
Abraham Lincoln - Republican
James Garfield - Republican
William McKinley - Republican
John Kennedy - Democrat
Attempted...
Andrew Jackson - Democrat
Harry Truman - Democrat
Gerald Ford - Republican
Ronald Reagan - Republican

Communism could totally work! No one really knows, because it's never truly been attempted. Soviet Union, Cuba, North Korea, ect.. not true communism. >;[

Even if it doesn't work, Karl Marx is awesome.

"A spectre is haunting Europe -- the spectre of Communism. All the Powers of old Europe have entered into a holy alliance to exorcise this spectre: Pope and Czar, Metternich and Guizot, French Radicals and German police-spies."

Ahh, the Communist Manifesto.

Russia is a complete faliure. I think it could work in Cuba. It actually works quite well there. But in the US it could never work.

In the US it would never work, people here don't really want to be equal, they are way too selfish. Not everyone, of course, just enough people to ruin it. That's the same reason why Communism would never work in general. Look atthe book Animal Farm... there will always be pigs who want power. There is always going to be corruption and greed and inequalities... sad, but true.

The idea that everyone should be equal is a mistake in and of itself.

I completely forgot about Voltaire.

I believe Kennedy was assassinated for his equal rights agenda but I also partially believe it was the soviets.

I was just about to bring this book up, it's so good. If you had a cooperative selfless society it could, but that's highly unlikely.
