There's a possibility that after Bill told Harry about the Goblin notions of ownership, payment, and repayment that Harry may have given it back to the Goblins. (just saying) It was promised to Griphook at one time and it meant a lot more to him than I think anyone noticed. Maybe Harry did what he thought was right again.

I think it stayed at Hogwarts... Neville probably gave it to McGonagall and she put it back at the headmaster's office...
Though it is probable that Harry gave it back to the Goblins, but I don't think so cause they would still be unhappy and would still dislike wizards cause not everyone would give them back their items..

I think it's in the school there isn't much point in keeping it anywhere else because no matter who has it if a gryffindor has real need of it they will recive it through the sorting hat

I voted for school, because, it belongs to any true Griffindore who has need of it, so it's no one's actually to take away permanently.
