This has been bothering me a lot, and with the new movie coming, I wanted to take the issue at hand and find out if I'm indeed alone or if you guys are bothered too.

First, let's take a look at Goblet of Fire.

Viktor Krum. Described as a lanky sort, longish (!) black hair, big nose, bad posture and only "coming alive" when he mounts his broom. Quite sullen type, even shy.

What do we get? A b-grade male model with a horrendous crew cut who shows off his muscles and physical superiority from the first shot.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure Stanislav Ianevski is a really nice guy, but to me, personally, he does not represent Krum in any shape or form.

Fleur. Well, the movies left out the whole bit of veelas, and given that she might not be such a bad choise but if she was supposed to pass off as stunningly beautiful and magically captivating woman who puts men into a trance when singing or dancing, I don't buy that. PLEASE!

In fact, even though their on-screen time is limited, how could they leave the veela-bits out?

Alastor "Mad Eye" Moody..not at all as described, and mainly served as comic relief. I love the ferret-scene, but I didn't get the wonderful (and in hindsight, tragic) teacher-student chemistry between Harry and him in the movie as I did in the book.

Then, the movie we're all waiting for.

Dolored Umbridge. Am I the only one who thinks that sucha horrid woman, absolutely vile, disgusting woman would've deserved to be portrayed (physically) as she is? And what's with the bloody fornal pink jacket suit? Where's the cardigan, and the ridiculous bow????

I apologize if I ranted, but I just don't get these casting choises/make up and clothing!!!
Mad

And, half off-topic, why isn't Hermione's hair bushy as it's written as? That bugs me...

I think JKR has had a running battle with the Directors, Studios about the characters.

The first director of choice was Spielberg, whom I would have loved to cast his spell over the films. However he wanted to set it in an American High School.
He didn't want British actors, because we're so pale, that we gently *glow* on screen. *Charming* I'm sure!

So it's not been an easy route for her.

When they cast Tom Felton, they were originally considering him for the role of Harry Potter or Draco. I think they made a mistake in making him Malfoy. He's such an accommoplished actor, that he would have been better as Potter than Malfoy. That said, he's an amazing Draco! JKR is said to be peeved at how popular Draco is, because of Tom Felton.

Any way thats my tuppence worth!
