In book 3, when Harry was taking Peter back to castle and Peter escaped, Dumbledore mentioned something that confused me. Its about Harry saving Pettigrew's life by letting him be led to the dementors and him escaping. Dumbledore tells Harry this:

"This is magic at its deepest, its most impenetrable, Harry. (((Dumbledore talking about the bond forming between Harry and Pettigrew when Harry saved Pettigrew's life accidentally))) But trust me...the time may come when you will be very glad you saved Pettigrew's life."

Has Harry ever been glad yet? Has this ever come up. (Sorry if it has and i am just being stupid....)

hey thats a good one limegreengirl, ok i think either JKR forgot Razz (HIGHLY unlikely given how clever that gal is) or he will appear in book 7 and something out of that may come out. But it is also kinda weird to make a connection from book 3 straight to book 7, when most ppl are likely to have forgotten that little incident. But i guess not everyone Wink

It's a wizards bond between Peter and Harry.

The bond will probably be critical to the plot of the last book. Very Happy

Peter is in a great position to betray Voldemort though.

He listens at doors, even Snapes.

He probably knows all Voldemorts plans.

So some omnimous betrayal seems on the cards to me...

thats true. but i am sure he is in no position to kill a great dark wiziard. in the end it all turns back to the prophecy.

Peter's always been a coward, and won't stand up to Voldemort face to face. But, it does raise the bond with Harry again. Peter is excuse the pun, Voldemorts' "right hand" man.

0/10 for jokes. *hangs head*.

But he was in Gryffindor!
The Sorting Hat MUSTVE had a reason to put him in Gryffindor, especially since he is so cowardly.

Pettigrew not in Gryffindor?
Do the books ever actually say he was a Gryffindor?
I think he is, but I'm just curious now.

I don't know but for a while I have been thinking about this. I have a feeling it will come up in a big way. Like he will have to choose between valdamort and Harry.

I wrote a fanfic once about the final battle (been made invalid by books since heh) where wormtail is at there and he calculates his best bets and decides to side with harry...voldy ends up killing him of course but it gave harry the time he needed. wormtail said something like this "I betrayed my best friends...did you never think that I would betray you?" he was very cool and collected about it...perhaps his cowering is just a facade.

I forgot about Dumbledore saying that....

Maybe he will be threatened that he will be killed by Voldemort, and since he is such a wimp he comes onto the good side and gives Harry information.

And you notice how Dumbledore didn't saw 'we' he said you.

Snape-Dumbledore. Here it is again!
