ok so i was thinking tom riddle was the last of the slytherin blood lines do you think that the other founding members half any bloodlines left in the wizarding world _________________
and salazar slytherin was also a descendant right? (the ring)
so was harry related to slytherin after all?
Salazar Slytherin wasn't a descendant. He was the founder... how can you be a founder of yourself?
Harry was related to Slytherin, but not really. He certainly wasn't a direct discendant. It was so far apart... I mean, it's like saying you and I are possibly related, which we could possibly be if we go really far back. _________________

Actually, I saw a thing on TV where they practiacally proved that we are all related. These researchers started with the Mongolians -- since apparently a vast majority of them are related -- and pretty much linked the world through random samples of DNA. It was really interesting. _________________
I know but I'm talking about how riddle was supposed to be Slytherin's last descendant. Do you think that any other wizards have direct blood from the founders. I don't think that Ravenclaw would because her daughter died and I got the impression that she was her only daughter. _________________

I got that impression, too.
Voldemort was the last direct descendant of Slytherin. _________________

That's just a theory. That was a popular theory that floated around before DH was released, but has never been confirmed. He is not a direct descendent of him, though. _________________

Didn't JKR confirm that Harry is not a descendent of Gryffindor? Or was it just that he isn't necessarily?
And bery: nowhere does it say that the ring belonged to Slytherin. It's possible, but unlikely since the founders were before the Peverells and the stone on it belonged to Cadmus Peverell. It's more likely that Cadmus or one of his descendents simply made the ring especially for the stone so it would be easier to carry. _________________ "What's comin' will come, an' we'll meet it when it does." -- Rubeus Hagrid

what? you lost me, i dont get what you're saying
i mean that if slytherin had the ring then maybe he was descendant of the peverell brothers, thats how he was related very distantly to harry, but what does that have to do with him being a founder? _________________
You are up there!

The ring was from the Peverell brothers, not necassarily Salazar Slytherin.
You said, "and salazar slytherin was also a descendant right?"
A descendent of who? We're talking about the descendents of the founders... Salazar was a founder. _________________

oooh, now i get it, yeah i know but i sort of strayed from the question to satisfy my curiosity
wasnt there a point in the 6th book where the ring is said to belong to slytherin? or does it say peverell?
It only mentions the Peverell coat of arms being on it, nothing about Slytherin on it. But Gaunt says that it was in the family for centuries, so some people took it to mean it was Slytherin's. _________________

The books never say if there are any descendants left of Hufflepuff or Gryffindor, asssuming there were any to begin with.
