"Today we will be working in partners." Professor Trelawny said. Divination was the one class Heather had different from Eve, and it was her least favorite class. Immediately after the teacher's words, Ron and Harry glanced at each other, silently confirming their partnership. "I will be assigning them..." There were numerous groans from the students, this was not good news. Prof. T began walking amongst them, pairing off people. "Mr. Weasley and...Mr. Finnigan. Ms. Granger and...Ms. Patil. Mr. Potter and...Ms. Dover." Heather's heart fluttered. Harry was her partner!
"So, um, yeah. I guess...we...interpret each others dreams, right?" Heather said nervously as other pairs began scooting closer and talking.
"Yeah." Harry said, flipping his book open, obviously unhappy with his grouping. Heather looked down and fiddled with her robes. "Do you want to go first?" he asked, and she looked up.
"Um..." Honestly, yes. Heather did want to go first, but seeing as her most recent dream involved him, she preferred to have more time to invent a dream. "No, you can go."
"Fine. I dreamed...I was playing Quidditch." he said, never looking at her. Heather sighed and flipped through the pages of her textbook.

"Eve!" Draco called, intercepting her as she left Ancient Runes.
"What?" she answered grudgingly. She turned and was stunned. "Oh! Erm, you...shouldn't have."
"But I did. I'm sorry for...for last night." Draco handed her the flowers and smiled.
"Me too." His smile faded.
"Why?"
"Because...I have to go." Eve shoved the flowers back at him and ran down the hall.

This time, it was Eve who sat with her forehead pressed against the cold glass of the dormitory, though everyone had fallen asleep a while ago. She sat on the sill, struggling to figure out what to do. This boy seemed to like her-alot-but he had been mean. Downright hateful. Still...there was something about him. '

"It's Valentine's Day!" Eve sang, pulling Heather's arm.

Heather peeked out in gasped. "Holy cow! Is that...?"
"Yup!" Eve nodded.

Draco paced in front of the doors to the Great Hall, waiting for Eve. Suddenly he heard her voice.
"I honestly didn't expect her to faint like that." Eve was saying. Draco peeked around the corner and saw she was with...Hermione Granger.
"Well, I expect she was rather excited." Hermione said, nodding.
"I'll say! But-oh." Eve had seen Draco and stopped dead. Hermione scowled at him, then looked back and forth between them.
"Um...Hermione, you can...you can go on. I'll be there in a sec." Hermione nodded suspiciously, then pushed past Draco into the Hall.
"Eve..." he whispered, once they were alone. Eve said nothing, looking anywhere but him. "Happy Valentine's Day."
"Why are you doing this?" Eve whispered, finally meeting his gaze.
Draco stared at her with a hurt expression.
"I think you should leave me alone, Draco." Eve said, taking a step back.
"Why? Why don't you want me here?"
"No..." Eve said, a tear know weaving down her face.
"No what?" he stepped closer.
"Just...no!" She turned and fled up the stairs.

The door to Madam Promfrey's office closed with a quiet click. Fifteen minutes later, Heather set her bare feet on the cold floor. She was a girl on a mission.
She tiptoed out of the infirmary, and headed up to Gryffindor tower. She eased open the boys' dorm door and padded over to his bed. She gazed at him for a moment, then tapped his shoulder. He woke with a start.
"Oi! What are you..." he stopped and stared at her with disbelief.
Not happiness.
Not pleasant surprise.
Just disbelief.
"Hi." Heather whispered as he put on his glasses.
"What are you doing here? Are you that desperate?"
"What? You gave me...present?"
"No I didn't."
"But-"
"You should go. Now." And he shut his curtains.

"That was not funny. It wasn't even real, was it?" Heather moaned as she and Eve left the hospital wing.
"Yes it was!" Eve lied, trying to silence the two thoughts she wanted least.
"Then how come he didn't come visit me?" Heather countered.
"Um...well, he...he wanted to, but..."
"Stop. Just stop, Eve." Heather said, stopping against a wall.
"What?" Eve's expression clouded. Heather always knew.
"Do you know what happens to me when you do this? I don't care that you were trying to help, Eve, do you know what I did? Do you know?"

"No, Eve, you don't. It's because of you. You and your sick lie. I don't ever want to see you again, Eve. I hate you. And that's a fact."
