Why do you think JKR pictured elves so differently than we are used to. Or just what I'm used to. You know LOTR style.

I think it's because JKR has an amazing imagination. If the elves looked like the LotR's elves, I think that would have been lame, lol.

well pretty much everything in the wizarding world is how it has already been imagined, so i guess she figured there would be some misconceptions among muggles

Yeah, you are all probably right. Maybe the fact I saw the movies first didn't help either. I would like them at least to be pictured a little more "elegant/graceful"? Don't know if I used the right words. Confused

i dont mind really, i liked dobby Smile

and i saw LotR movies and read the books and didnt like the elves there, they seemed a bit to arrogant for my taste

hehhe..very nicely said...^^

initially i found dobby very irritating..may be because i saw him in the movie first and there i felt like beating this creature to death... *sorry*

but then i just feel in love with him.. we share the same birthday.. Very Happy

and i also have huge affection for old kreacher...

i dint quite like winky and hokey.. may be i like Males more.... Very Happy

I was actually afraid of Dobby at first. He scared the heck outta me ! I thought he was there to kill Harry or something.

I just can't get over it! The elves are really ugly in the movie.
Although if Orlando Bloom and Liv Taylor played as elves in the Harry Potter movies Laughing
I don't think Hermione would've had an Elves Liberation Party. Very Happy

yes true... i still feel.. he looks a bit scary in the movie.. compared to the illustration picture of dobby in the book..where he looks pretty young...

the movie one was too much wrinkled... but yea..i still hate to see him scream and beat himself soo badly....

Yeah, it does sounds shallow. I just grew up with this totally different idea of Elves. It has nothing to do with their looks. I for excample like the dwarves and hobbits in LOTR. Hope you know what I mean.
