I don't think I can go through with it. Sad

How about if you just hide Angelina in a closet for the rest of her life?

Well, I think he's really good and all... but not more. He's really often a childish boy who makes a few really wrong decisions.

That mixed with the fact that Harry is not actually a tangible person.

Sorry to burst your bubble. This is what happend when you build an imaginary world of cards around you. The first strong wind that comes makes your world topple.

Well, I'm iffy on him quite a bit. In the fifth book, he's whiny and annoying. I liked him in the first book, but he becomes more and more... well, paranoid and self righteous to a degree. Then again, he is a teenager. I like him the best in the 7th book, where's he's actually decided to mature.

I do believe that if he hadn't gone to Hogwarts he would have ended up differently, and not in a good way. He probably would have ended up just as whiny as he was in the 5th book, but less... extroverted.

well saying he's annoying is more of a matter of opinion right? i of course disagree lol

but when is he whinny? Confused

paranoid? if you ask me he is not paranoid enough, if i had to go through what he has i would so end up like mad eye

and i dont see whats wrong with being self righteous (or at least i dont think it is, could you remind me what it means? english isnt my first language)

and well as you said, in the 5th book he's only a teenager, its only natural that he was more mature in the 7th book

and yeah, obviously going to hogwarts and making friends and stuff did good to his self esteem and he became more extroverted than introverted like he was before, but i think he would've been a good person even not going to hogwarts, i dont know about you but he seemed like a good kid at the start ob the first book, before he found out about magic

When is he not whiny in the fifth book? He acts like a girl on PMS. You might think he has good reason, and to a degree, he does, but christ alive, does he have to complain every chance he gets?
It's more annoying in the movie than in the book.

i think he has perfectly good reasons to complain, every teen has that period of complaining and he deserves it more than most

you're judging him too hard, look at everything he has been through, he's in pain and very confused

i will give you this though, jkr said in one of her interviews that one of harry's faults is anger

so yes, he yelled at ron and hermione and then at dumbledore, but none of them blamed him for it, why? because they are spoiling him in some way or letting him do whatever he wants? no, because they understand that he's going through a lot of pain, that he's life is pretty much sucking at the moment, so they are patient with him, he deserves it

otherwise, how else is he suppossed to let it all out? you would rather have him crying all the book? him being all depressed all the time? i dont think ron hermy or dumble deserved the yelling but they understand this, its their way of helping him go through this difficult time

No, but seriously, if I wanted to read about some whiny teenager I'd read 'My Immortal'. I would've slapped him if he were my friend. There was just too much complaining, and then JK gave him another reason to be emo at the end with killing off Sirius.

I suppose it's more the way JK wrote the book. He seemed to go from somewhat well adjusted to emo.

And yes, I realize that he saw Voldemort come back and Cedric get killed the year before, but he also had to fight Voldemort's face in first year, a giant freaking Basilisk in 2nd year and found out that he had a godfather in third year without having any sort of drastic change.

Well, he had just experienced a classmate die in front of him and saw his mortal enemy come back to full human form by using his blood. Inevitably he was going to crack.
He was also a teeneage boy. Angst sort of comes with the territory.

so you say he should've just been as he was before acting like everything's fine? that would be very unrealistic, he cant be perfect, you know?

and he yelled at dumbledore after sirius died and then he went directly into depression until the beggining of book 6 in case you didnt realize

in the first 3 books he suffered no real loss, at the end of book 4 he saw voldy himself come back, he experienced the cruciatus, he saw his fellow student die, thats very traumatic so its little wonder he would have a stronger reaction to that than the previous things

also, he wasnt a teenag
