Well, I think so. In the 5th movie Hermione and Ron are trying to help him (after the whole detention thing) and he is like "No one understands" and Hermione says "Help us too" and he storms out like a little girl. His friends are trying to help, but instead he needs to make a huge scene for attention and pity. |

no, what he says is that its useless telling a professor about his detentions cause it was just gonna get more of those decrees, like professor who questions ministry methods gets sacked and stuff
you're also confusing the movies and the books, help us to is just in the movies, not in the books
he didnt tell his friends cause he didnt want them to make a big deal out of it, he actually tried to hide it, that doesnt sound like attention seeking to me

True, I haven't read the books in quite some time. I am re-reading them now. I still think he was a bit of an attention seeker through out the books as well |
