I'm just pointing out that the so called evidence of racism in the media doesn't meet the logic of what actually happened. A person is not racist for pointing out that somebody else's intial emotional reaction doesn't meet with reality. Cooler heads must prevail. _________________ You're just jealous cause the voices only talk to me! |

Many of you were upset that Mr. West 's comments were pulled from the West Coast broadcast. I initally thought that the network pulled it because of the slander laws. But, after reading Michelle Malkin's new book, "Unhinged". I realize that President Bush wouldn't use the Slander laws, prominent people are committing slander everyday against the President. I did read where the Red Cross, not the network, requested that his remarks be pulled. Why you ask? Mr. West was acting as a spokesman for the Red Cross(they may have been paying him too?)
That night was supposed to be a positive night of America coming together. Mr. West's remarks had the potential of turning people away from giving. Think about someone who was on the Fence, and didn't know for sure. Then, Mr. West made his remarks and their response may have been screw you His remarks turned the night negative for many people and some people aren't big enough to see around this jerk's remarks.
Did the network or the Red Cross have the right to pull his remarks You bet they did Does he have the right to speak freely? Yes The government wasn't keeping him from speaking. The Bill of Rights which contains the freedom of speech is there to spell out the rights of the citizens, so the government doesn't violate their rights. The networks/ media/ have editorial control over what they allow on their broadcasts. That night was like a big infomercial for the Red Cross. Mr. West was screwing with their message. It was their dime, they were paying for the fund raising event. Now, If Mr. West wants to use some of his money and pay for a spot , then he can say whatever as long as it isn't slanderous and doesn't mess with the FCC rules. _________________ You're just jealous cause the voices only talk to me! |
