It was sad that he died. He held back information that is important. But maybe his portrit can still help in some way.

Yeah, that portrait will say the truth at the end about his death-yes, Gryffindors, he's dead...What? Ah! Iknow that cause I overheard a conversation...no, I wouldn't say between who ever Twisted Evil
And yes, he was brilliant, and awesome, and all, but he also was a Gryffindor. I didn't cry.

I am a BIG believer that DD isn't dead... Like it was said earlier DD pleaded with him. Snape hasn't casted any killing spells and remember in like the 4th book how "Mad-eye moody" said you have to really want it, you cant just say "Avada Kadavera" and it happen You have to want death, well the way Snape was described, it doesn't sound like he wanted DD dead. DD is capable of alot of things I think it is an act so Lord Volde will think that Snap is on his side and then at the end DD walks in and help Harry!!! I really hope DD isn't dead.. When DD died in real life I almost cried!!! I think that the old DD is alot better then the new one.
