I think there were 3 sisters total. Narcissa, Bellatrix, and Nymphadora.

It's Andromeda, not Nymphadora. Andromeda was Nymphadora's mother.

Bellatrix is one of three sisters. Their last names were all Black.
Bellatrix is the oldest sister.
Then Andromeda.
The youngest is Narcissa.
Bellatrix married Rodolphus LeStrange.
Andromeda married Ted Tonks and had Nymphadora Tonks.
Narcissa married Lucius Malfoy and had Draco.
The name LeStrange or Le Srange is French and mean "The Strange."

My bad, about Nymphadora instead of Andromeda, I knew that didn't seem right.

maybe the origins of rodolphus' surname is french, but i think that he's really british. look, the lestrange vault in gringotts is among the oldest. this means that the lestrange family has been in britain for centuries.

I agree completely. That's why I just said the "name" is French. Unless there was some name changing somewhere in the past with his ancestors or somewhere, which I doubt.

or if you recall, william of normandy was a french guy who went to britain, and introduced french stuff to the british. perhaps the lestranges may have been his wizard companions or what and they had decided to settle in britain. hahahha!!!!

^ I was just about to bring that up. Many words in the english language come from the french language. That is why so many of them seem familiar in french. The Lestranges could have been some ancient french family that had political dealing in England.

exactly. english is a combination of many languages - french, german, the old anglo saxon language, maybe a bit of norse.
here's a picture of bella and her two other sisters, narcissa and andromeda.
if you recall, in the seven potters chapter in DH, when harry was sent to tonks' house, andromeda looks like bellatrix, but with a kinder face.
