| I prefer it in Japanese. They pick really bad voice actors for the English dubs. And they usually translate the honorifics so the characters end up saying stupid stuff like "Sissy" instead of "Onee-chan". |

Well, in Malaysia, English is pretty close to the #1 spoken language. If anything they should have let people that don't suck at English do the voicings..
Unless they all talk like that, but that right there is good ol' American Ignorance at its finest. =_=;

I hated the english dubs for Digimon and Beyblade. Every other line was a horrible pun for the sake of filler because 4kids was too incompetant to come up with good dialogue.

Usually I prefer english but thats mainly because there are quite a few voice actors who just send sivers down my spine...David Kaye for example. Although I don't mind the Japanese anime I suppose it doesn't really matter to me either way

A really good dub was for Orphen, if you ignore the fact that they did rewrite scenes and changed backstory.

I agree some of the anime they translate 'for kids' just ends up being obnoxious

I dont know why certian dubs seem to think that every other word needs to be a catch phrase I remember when I first started watching Naruto I couldnt stand Naruto (the character) just because every other phrase out of his mouth was 'believe it' in the first like 35 episodes it drove me crazy

Overall, I'd say subbed is the way to go. However, I do make exceptions for those few anime that have been dubbed into excellence.

Speaking of good dubs, does anyone else feel like old-school anime was dubbed much more successfully than anime dubbed in current times? I mean just in general..

Although I can see demographics affecting quality, the only "catch-phrase" heavy anime I can think of is Naruto. And in Shippuden, his little-kid bs is practically non-existent, which is something I'm thankful for.

Shippuden is far superior to the first naruto...except for the fact that gaara dies  but I couldnt stand Naruto for like the first half of the show

Personally, I sort of ignored his childish BS (along with the fact that he has no skill and is a waste of space), I barely watched up to the fight he had with Sasuke at like 125-130 (or w/e), and then just stopped at the fillers (that was something like 100 episodes of fillers, ridiculous). I'm on break from Shippuden right now though, these fillers they have going on with Sora are really boring me. I don't like his Emo-ness.
