I know! And seriously, what did she do before Edward came along?Read and do homework? That doesn't seem very realisic.
erm... *glances nervously at Zenny*
haha . . . That made me laugh. I am a dweeb who spends all of her time reading and doing homework. I also have interest, though. Pretty much, everything else that you said about people who are supposed to be like Bella are true about me. I'm completely anti-social, but I'm not rude to people. I do go online, and I watch TV. I just really like to be studious, as well, and I definately prefer my studies to sociak relationships.
I actually had you in mind when I wrote this....
"The thing that gets to me is, in real life studious people who like to read at least seem to have interests... they have many likes and a few dislikes. They aren't rude to people who are nice to them and they are at least interesting to talk to."
haha, Kim... I had to hold myself back from buying that shirt. I broke down and treated myself to the Team Edward shirt, though. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!
^haha would have loved to see the unedited version. It was probably true. Let's just say she likes to unfairly and selfishly mess anround with Jacobs feelings. _________________ Awesome Sig By Yas!
I like Bella, she's an interesting character. Why does everyone keep saying she's selfish, she's really not at all. She's always giving up her own comfort for that of others. Yes in New Moon, she did get very dull and I wish Stephenie didn't drag on the lack of Edward. But she was dull because she was depressed, and her lack of interest in anything other than Edward is due to the hold he has over her because of what he is. Which is really the part that bothers me because sometimes it seems like that's the only reason she loves him.
Bella is no less interesting than Edward, he does all the same boring stuff she does remember. Not to mention the seemingly fun things she did while Edward was away, remember she learned (or tried anyway) to ride a motorcycle, yes it was for a weird reason, but at least she tried to do something to move on with her life. Then when he returned, the fun stuff ended.
Just because someone isn't interested in T.V. or computers or sports doesn't make them boring. I'm usually perfectly content to sit and read books in my spare time, I don't really need any other activity, though sometimes I enjoy them. I actually think she's one of the most realistic characters I've ever read about. _________________ "Enter, stranger, but take heed

Quick! Name five things that Bella did for others without ulterior motives in mind!

Sweetie, she was dull before New Moon. She was completely self-righteous, and she looked down one EVERYONE!

hhhmmm . . . I can't agree with you here. I mean, Edward is by no means perfect, but he is certainly more interesting than Bella. He's definately more 3-d.

Yes, because it's seemlingly fun to walk up to a group of guys on the street who probably want to rape you. The reason for the motorcycle wasn't just weird; it gave was obsessive to an absurd degree. The same with the cliff diving. I'm all for her getting a hobby, but that wasn't what she had in mind here. She wasn't moving on with her life. She was retrogressing back into the Edward-obsessed freak that she had been before becoming a "zombie."

Wait a minute . . . What are you doing right now? That's right! You're online reading this! Being vastly interested in books is OK. Not being interested in TV and internet is fine as well. Having no personality is just ridiculous. Bella has no personality on top of the fact that she has no interests outside of reading. _________________

or without making herself out to be a martyr for doing it _________________ They say home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. --Captain Hammer
This is hilarious. Your lists of "what does Bella like and dislike LOL" lists, I mean.
Not too many books I've read go into such deep, thorough hobbies of their characters outside of what's directly being written about them, at least that I've read. _________________
I honestly don't see how anyone can like Bella. She has no personality. I mean, I probably love to read more than she does, but I have a personality. I play basketball, use the computer, and hang out with my freinds. There is no point in the series where she has done anything besides reading for her own entertainment. Also, she is selfish, messes around with Jacob's and Edward's feelings, and is just plain annoying. How does that add up to a good character? _________________ Awesome Sig By Yas!
that wouldn't be hard, considering she spurned anyone outside of her Edward and Jacob bubbles. _________________ They say home is where the heart is, so your real home's in your chest. --Captain Hammer

There are four books all told from her point of view. You would think at some point she would mention something she liked to do. It never even said she liked to read, we only know that she read the same few books over and over again by how worn they were.
Look at HP, we know more about some of the secondary characters than we do about Bella who was the main character in four books all told from her point of view, except for a bit in BD.

No, I don't remember him being boring. He liked to do way more stuff than she did. He kept trying to take her out and kept trying to do stuff he liked with her, but all she ever did was complain. He took her out to dinner, she got mad. He went to take her to his special place in the woods, she got annoyed. He wanted to go with her to college, she didn't want to. He wanted to take her to the dance, she got mad at him. He wanted to marry her, she didnt' want to. It was always about her and what she wanted to do. She never wanted to do anything he wanted to do and she never suggested a different activity. She would complained when, heaven forbid, he wanted to do something that she didn't want to do. It was always about her, never about him.
He likes music and learned the piano and composes music. He learned languages and he went to college and got medical degress, a few times. He plays baseball with his family and likes to read. He likes to run and drive. He loves cars and is an avid collector. He likes to dance and spend time with his brothers. He plays chess with Alice and wrestles with his brothers. Already I've listed more interests and activities than Bella. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!
i love the bit where bella drops the apple and edward catches it with his foot then kicks it up and he's holding it in his hands like the front cover of twilight.

Edward didn't do any of those things because he was interested in them. He did them because he thought that she would be, and only because he knows that it's what other teenagers like because he can hear everyones thoughts. Have you read the copy of Midnight Sun, He's even more obsessed with her than she is with him. _________________ "Enter, stranger, but take heed

^He enjoyed doing that stuff, though, and he liked having her as anexcuse to do it. He wanted to be human so bad, and he tried to lives as a human vicasiously through Bella. She was too selfish to allow him to do that, though.
Ginny and I both read the 12 chapters of Midnight Sun, and we feel bad that he was mislead to think that Bella was cooler than she was. Everytime he thought she was being selfless about something, she had a bitchy thought about that thing she was doing and an actual selfish reason for doing it. He thought that the fact that he couldn't read her mind meant that she had an interesting thought process. Really, she's just a boring person who can't identify with anyone else due to her lack of personality. _________________

Edward didn't pretend to like any of those things. He was interested in those things before he met Bella.
I read Midnight Sun and I was disappointed, like Zenny said, by how misled Edward was into thinking that Bella was so selfless, when really everything she did had a selfish purpose behind everything. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!

Yeah, the reason he can't read her mind is because there's nothing to read, lol. Oh, and has anyone else seen the new Twilight trailer?I have, and I loved it. _________________ Awesome Sig By Yas!
I adore the Twilight series, I got into it shortly after New Moon came out. So to watch it grow into something this big and, well, almost controversially popular is... weird.
I liked the series when nobody knew about it WAY better. Then again, maybe we wouldn't have the movie being made, so I guess it's a trade I'll have to live with.
So, I don't wanna hear any bashing, I hear enough of it. Are there any Jacob Black fans out there? Jacob is my favorite character! I wouldn't want Bella to end up with him, but I certainly wouldn't mind getting with him. _________________ Music is the magic far beyond all we do here.

Jacob is my least favorite character by far. When he sexually molested Bella my disike turned to sheer hatred. _________________ Blame it on a simple twist of fate ~ Bob Dylan Team Cucumber, FTW!
i've read it all... i love it all.....
the first one is the best though... for me....
i have to agree i really want to kill jacob at the third part but he's narration is quite cool..... _________________ I LOVE MAGIC....

i really wouldn't say she's selfish but she's aslo not selfless... and yes for me she's really interesting for a character.... she always does things her way but she cares alot for her loved one..... as much as i know any way _________________ I LOVE MAGIC....
