When I read the series the fist time, I thought he was an obsessive control freak. And a creepy stalker, to boot.
But there was something... sparkly about him.
I read Midnight Sun and that really gave me new perspective on him. It showed he wasn't as shallow as I thought and he really did care about his family.

And, once you get to the end of Eclipse, you see why he was so controlling... and you can certainly agree with him as to why he was that way. Bella basically treats him like garbage and he puts up with it. I felt bad for him the second time I read the series... and he quickly became one of my favorite characters.

I agree with you on this, except for the fact that I don't think Bella knows she's doing it. All she thinks is: Jacob is in pain, Jacob is in pain. And because of that, she doesn't even consider the fact that she's hurting Edward too. She needs to pick a side. You're right, even though I kinda like Bella, she can be a moron at times.

She knows how badly she hurts Edward because she sees the pain in his eyes and in his face, especially when Jacob recalls the memories. And she cries in the tent to Edward after she kisses Jacob. And she cries on her bed to Edward after she makes her choice. Everytime things are going well with her and Edward, she literally runs after Jacob. She knows how she is hurting Edward, but for some reason she cares more about the pain she causes Jacob. She takes Edward for granted, always knowing that he'll love her. But seriously, in real life, he'd have dumped her, lol.

^Personlly, I think Robert pattinson is going to do a good, job, from what I've seen from the trailers and stuff... but I do know what you mean. There is no way they are going to find an actor that everyone universally loves. So there are always going to be disappointed fans.
I really don't see Edward as "arrogant." He's confident, but not because he thinks he's so great. He's confident because he doesn't care what people think about him. That leaves him free to just chill and be himself. _________________ ^made by Fiendfyre

Seriously!Every Twilight fan has their own version of Edward, and no matter what actor they chose, someone, somewhere, would be dissapointed. And when they first considered making the movie, the wanted to have the Cullens wear night vision goggles and have Bella be a track star. So it could've been alot worse in my opinion. So, I think fans should be happy with Rob since theres nothing we can do about it, and look forward to the movie!The only problem is that Twilight and HBP are too close. I don't know how I'm going to convince my mom to see both! _________________

^totally, I see it like this, the movie is a close version of the book, but we all know that the book is better, and I know its wrong of me, but no matter how close they keep to the book, the movie will still be poorly made in my eyes. _________________
