How? Some people were better suited for Hufflepuff more so than the other three Houses. They weren't the leftovers, they were chosen to be sorted into Hufflepuff.

Hufflepuff treated everyone the same. And taught everyone. She didnt have to judge people. Like Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin did. Even though Hufflepuff consists of the Just and Loyal, she still treated everyone the same. And everyone has to fit in a category dont they? They have to be one of those traits.

you left out pure-blood. And evil is not one of the values of any of the Founders.

They are CLEARLY not sorted by what they are, but more by what they value.

Some one has to be one of those traits. But they are really not traits its really what they Value that matters.

JKR pretty much covered a wide variety of basic values and traits. And what if the person doesn't value bravery, hard-work, or cleverness.... then would they automatcially go into Slytherin?

Definitely not. There are other things that make you a Gryffindor than bravery, the same going for hard-work for Hufflepuff and cleverness for Ravenclaw.

Wormtail obviously wasn't in Griffindor because of bravery.
He was sorted as a Gryffindor because he is a Gryffindor. Although Pettigrew showed many strong signs of being a coward, dependent on others, and looking for power, you must not forget his last act.
Harry saved his life in PoA. Pettigrew remembered that. If he was really a Slytherin he would have just killed Harry when he had the chance in DH. Instead, he remembered how once Harry had saved him and, in turn, saved Harry.
A Slytherin wouldn't have done that. Wormtail showed signs of a Gryffindor with his final act.

Evil? Who is evil? Slytherin is NOT evil. We just happen to see the uglier face of the house more often than we do the decent folk.

Slytherin house is govered by pure blood and cunning. Not evil.

You missed my point. It was a continuation from a previous argument. I was refuting the fact that Hufflepuff is where the "leftovers" go.

So the fact that 99% of the world population is racist makes everyone evil too?

The only true-blue evil people Slytherin ever produced were Riddle and Bellatrix.

99%? I think those numbers need to be rechecked. And yes, I do believe that racist people are evil. But I don't think you meant it like that, lol.

Slytherin isn't all about being pureblood. It is also about being cunning, power-hungry... and some go in their because their parents said so.

No, I didn't. I meant it as a comparison. Most people in this world are racist. Even now in America.

Neither Narcissa nor Lucius were evil. Narcissa lied to THE DARK LORD HIMSELF to protect her son, and Lucius was probably proud of her for it.

But I guess the Death Eaters are mostly evil. Even so.. that's still only a handful of the Slytherins that have EVER been in Hogwarts.

About purelboodedness..
It doesn't matter where you go, one group is going to discriminate against another, believing in superiority. It's a generalization of the house itself and like I said we see the uglier face. Most Slytherins are not evil, and I can guess that it's mostly the upper class that actually discriminate. The fact that Slytherin supports pureblood is a trait set by Salazar Slytherin himself, and we know for a fact that it's not going to stop people from getting into the house.. we all know that Snape is half-blood.

If you're going to call them evil over a trait all humans have.. I don't even know what to say.

I think they were racist against non-purebloods, but they were worried abotu their son. Their past deeds, mainly Lucius's, is something they should be ashamed of.

But they aren't truely EVIL. >_< I already posted I was done with this!

Narcissa hardly EVEr agreed with Voldy. she did so many things to protect her poor son who was being forced through this. Towards the end.. both of them felt like it had gone too far. You could feel it as you read.

In the end, they lied to him, and deserted him in the fight for their superiority over mudbloods muggles. For their family.

In any case, i'm done here. I have to go.
