yeah but the fact remains that he was sacked (or resigned) before he died... so he cant have a portrait up there... maybe harry will just hang it up in his house... gosh i can imagine what stuff he will be talking about with snape, or if snape even wants to talk to him... i wonder what snape's portrait will do when he finds out that harry potter named his kid albus severus... ....

From te INFAMOUS interview I have been beging people to read...

Laura Trego: Was the absence of snapes portrait in the headmasters office in the last scene innocent or deliberate

J.K. Rowling: It was deliberate. Snape had effectively abandoned his post before dying, so he had not merited inclusion in these august circles.
J.K. Rowling: However, I like to think that Harry would be instrumental in ensuring that Snape's portrait would appear there in due course.

He was not fired, he quit. And he quit to help. SO although he didn't get his portrait up there right away... which should not have surprised anyone seeing as how he only abandoned his post mere hours before, JKR said that Harry would try to help get it up there in the furture.

He'll ask.

If he can prove that Snape had been working for DD the whole time, which he sort of did when he broke the news to Voldemort while they were circling the Great Hall. And if he can show them that he only fled for their safety as well, he had to be free to ensure Harry's safety. AND he might have been a good headmaster. I mean, the Carrows sucked but he couldn't help that... he secretly was following DD's orders... he gave Ginny, Neville and Luna detention with Hagrid, so we know he wasn't running too far amock... If Harry can prove this, then maybe the others will listen to him.

but to whom do you appeal? who's in charge of making portraits? how do we know snape will even leave an imprint of himself?

Well, reading what JKR said I guess he did leave an imprint somewhere. According to her it is possible. Perhaps there is a whole branch at the Ministry, I dunno who or how, but we do now that it is possible.

OMG!!! That reminds me on an avatar I found... It says something like,
"Harry named his daughter after his mother... and his sons after the two men who loved her"

When you put it that way... it's kind of creepy.

JKR said that Snape did not care about Harry at all, that he did what he did because of the guilt he felt for Lily's death.

Based on that, I don't think he'd be too impressed to know that Harry named his son after him.

Proving Snape was working for DD is simplisitic beyond belief. The pensive, the last memory Snape gave Harry. Proof postive right there. Snape ended up being a matyr, just no one knew it at the time. Sure it will take some people awhile to accept that its the truth, but the evidence is there and I don't see why people would deny him his painting, especially if Harry Potter requests it.
