I know it's already been confirmed that David Yates will direct the 6th movie, but who would you have wanted to direct this one?
Yates directed OotP and will direct HBP.
Columbus directed SS and CoS.
Cuaron directed PoA.
Make your choice! I chose Columbus, because he did an excellent jop interpreting the books into movies, filling the audience in on every important detail. |

Newell isn't on the list because in Wiki it said he declined the spot for directing the 5th film, and they didn't even ask him to direct this one.
EDIT: Newell directed GoF |

Mike Newell directed GoF.
Wiki is not always accurate. I haven't heard anything about Columbus being offered to direct DH, was that in an interview I missed? _________________

Cuaron did express interest in DH... but it's too late for this film. Cuaron turned down GoF... so they moved on with other directors. They liked the job Yates did with OotP and asked him back for HBP, which he accepted. Thats why they're not going with Cuaron for this one. Maybe they'll go with Cuaron for DH, though. _________________

im fine with yates... but i think yates would do a better job with DH since its more action packed than hbp... hbp is more serious, and its dark... the lake scene is creepy... cuaron would do a great job there...
i think it should be the other way around...
but if cuaron is interested in DH, then he's probably forming ideas already on how to do it, which is good. so im confident, _________________

I like Yates and Cuaron.... just so long as Yates gets over his whole "let's make the movie shorter" thing. Because of that I'm concerned about Yates, but hopefully it'll work out... as long as he doesn't cut the whole book out again. _________________

Me too. I hated that he made the film shorter. And I want the movies to be more accurate damnit! _________________

If Yates hadn't cut the movie, then the film would have been a hundred times better. I mean, there are other things I would change... but notice how mostly all people complain about is the shortened length. If he hadn't shortened, we'd still complain, but it wouldn't be as intense. _________________

It mainly angers me because Yates seems like he doesn't think he made a mistake by doing that. _________________

yeah, he's acting all arrogant about it, saying how he wouldn't want to sit there watching a movie for so long. A lot of critics in the past have mentioned that the HP movies are long... but when you have every single fan saying that they don't care, then maybe he is listening to the wrong people. And maybe the filmmakers are doing something wrong because Lord of the Rings is long, too, but the critics just love them. Stupid LotR goody-two shoes....
And the worst part is, all those poeple always go around saying how they don't read reviews. Well that's just fantastic for them. Now we are going to have to storm the studios if that's the only way to get their attention, since they don't read reviews. Damn you Yates for making us do this, he only has himself to blame. _________________

Cuaron or Columbus. Yates's past as a commercial director was frustratingly obvious in OoTP. He never slowed down the movie, not even for a second, and he could have fit a lot more in than he did. _________________

columbus is too kiddie... he was fine with ss and cos...
cuaron's film was kinda dark... which would be good for a dark book like hbp.
peter jackson for the seventh film! _________________
