Now what the hell has Dambledore's sister have to do with little Ted Remus Tonks Lupin?
It's actually very simple.
Lupin was afreid of his son heiring his werewolf problem and they gave him last name to protect him because Tonks is half-blood family and Lupin...well he is a werewolf and Voldemort doesn't like werewolfs much does he?

He is the werewolf Death Eater. He was the one who bit Lupin and made him into a werewolf. Greyback likes to prey on the children of wizards who anger him. That was how Lupin fell victim to him. Lupin was just a child when he was bitten.

Greyback was at the final battle. He was mentioned many times in the last two books.

No way are they related... Greyback just made Lupin into a werewolf, there is no relation there.

Becoming a werewolf has nothing to do with blood. This isn't vampirism. If anything, there is probably a sort of venom in the canines of werewolves.

Jo said that Lupin represents adults who deal with disease and disability. So I assume that if becoming a werewolf had anything to do with blood, then it would be represented in a way that something like HIV would. If a person gets infected with HIV through the bodily fluids of some one else, then it doesn't make those two people connected in any way, shape, or form.

Here his name is Fenrir Greyback. So yah, he is just called by his lastname. I don't think Lupin is related to him at all, he just got bitten from Greyback when he was a kid because his mom refused to join the Death Eaters or upset them.
