Chapter seventeen - What You Hear and Read Isn't Always True
Harry grinned as heard Ron enter the Head Boy's dorm later that night. He had been finding it hard to sleep since it was just him and Ron - maybe it was because he was missing the comforting sound of Neville's snores.
Harry sat up in bed and chucked a pillow at Ron. He had gotten into the habit of doing this recently.
"Oi, mate! Where have you been? I heard about you and - mmf!" Ron had chucked the pillow right back with surprising accuracy into Harry's face.
"Shut up," he blushed, scarlet. "If - if Ginny dares tell Mum I - I'll"
"You'll what?" Harry could barely control his laughter. "You'll throw pillows at her?"
"Never mind," Ron muttered.
"So." Harry scrutinised Ron.
"So what?" Ron sighed wearily.
"When were you going to tell me?"
"You already sort of knew......"
"Did not!"
"Well, at the dance we were just talking and stuff....and then..."
"What?"
"We KISSED, Harry!!" whooped Ron. "And she told me she'd always like me, from third year!"
"And did you tell her you liked her from first year?"
"Eh...no. I just said I liked her too. But what's all this about Ginny's and your 'plan'?"
"Don't change the subject!"
"I'm going to bed. I'll talk to you in the morning." Ron pulled off his socks and crawled into bed. Harry was about to protest, but sleep claimed him.
*****
The next day, Harry found Ginny in the library.
"Hey, Harry. Can you help me?" she smiled up at him.
"Em, Ginny I was wondering if -"
"This research is so hard, I don't know how Hermione does it! Like, here it says that Eleanor Granger was particularly good witch and sometimes told fortunes. But in that book," she pointed to a dark green one, "it says that Eleanor was actually a Muggle who was really good at convincing people she was a witch. Pretty weird, huh?"
"Yeah. Look, Ginny, you know you don't have to this..."
"Of course I do Harry!" she glance up at him, almost as if she was pitying him. "I'm going to get some lunch now, I'll see you later, ok?"
"I -" Harry tried to say something, but Ginny was gone.
And he was left speechless, alone, except for the many books. _________________ ♥*x*x Remember x*x*♥

Chapter eighteen - Not Alone
Harry gathered up the scattered books and walked over to the shelves. He passed two girls at a table, studying. The dark-haired girl looked up as he approached, nudging her friend. Her friend, the blonde one, looked up at Harry too and a wide grin broke across her face.
"Hi, Harry! Didn't see you this morning in our common room. Were you up late?"
"Hey, Sophia. Yeah, I'm only up a while. Have you seen Hermione?"
The grin faded from Sophia's face.
"No, I think she's gone off with Ron again."
Her friend gasped. "I thought you said that Fleur said she was with Viktor Krum until he died! Has she moved on that quickly?!"
"No, Rachel," Sophia rolled her eyes. "She was only with Viktor in her fourth year. Get ir right." Harry supressed a grin as Rachel looked crestfallen.
"Oh!" Sophia cried. "This is Rachel, Harry, one of my friends."
"Hey," Harry grinned properly at Rachel. She blushed and looked away.
"So whatcha doing here in the library?" Sophia asked.
"Just looking up stuff," Harry replied. "You?"
"Oh, we're studying," smirked Sophia.
Now it was Rachel's turn to roll her eyes. "Well, Sophia's studying them...." and she jerked her head over towards a group of Ravenclaw boys.
"Right," Harry laughed. "See you later, Sophia, yeah? Nice to meet you, Rachel."
"See you Harry!"
*****
Harry went back up to the common room. He didn't know why.....but he felt so alone. Ginny was obsessing over this Seer thing, Ron and Hermione, his two best friends, were together, his parents and god-father were dead, the rest of his Gryffindor friends......well, who knew where they were?
He sighed and turned on the Wizarding Wireless by the armchair. A song came drifting out.
"Life is getting harder day by day
And I don't know what to do what to say,
And my mind is growing weak every step I take
It's uncontrolable now they think I'm fake
'Coz I'm not alone
But I'm not alone
I'm not alone
And I get on the train on my own
Yeah, My tired radio keeps playin' tired songs
And I know thats there's not long to go,
And all I wanna do is just go home
'Coz I'm not alone
But I'm not alone
I'm not alone...."
A knock came at the portrait door and Harry jumped. A tentative voice said, "Hey, Harry? Are you in there? It's Neville."
Harry switched the Wireless off and ran over to the portrait. It opened, and there was Neville.
"Hi," said Harry.
"Harry.......can you help me with something?"
"Sure."
"It's - it's Luna." _________________ ♥*x*x Remember x*x*♥

Chapter nineteen - Time To Realise
Harry, who was not surprised, simply said, "Come on in," to Neville and Neville started to explain.
"Em - well, Harry, like I said, this is mainly about, em - Luna. Like, I don't know if she thinks we're going out or not just because we went to the dance together. And - and I know Dean really likes her too, so I - I don't want to be standing in his way." The last part all came out in a rush.
Harry sighed and rubbed his scar.
What had happened to problems to do with Voldemort? These days, it was all about girls.
"Well Neville, do you like her? Because if you do, there's no reason why you can't be with her instead of Dean."
"I don't know, Harry, I really don't."
"Then come back to me when you figure that out."
Neville smiled wearily and sidled out of the Head common room.
Harry had seen this one coming.
He had noticed Dean's strange behaviour, Luna's uneasiness....but for Neville, well, Harry could only say that he missed him. Not sleeping in the same dorm as him anymore meant that Harry wasn't aware of when Neville wasn't able to sleep.
Since Ron and Hermione had got together, Harry sometimes wished he wasn't a Head Boy because he was left with Sophia. Not that he didn't like her - Ginny had a problem with her.
Christmas was looming; Hagrid could be seen carrying giant fir trees into the castle, Professor Flitwick was busy charming baubles and hanging up fairies and Professor Sprout was growing festive plants. Filch was everywhere - cleaning suits of armour, polishing floors and patrolling corridors with Mrs. Norris keen to punish students for having "Christmas cheer".
Ron, Hermione, Harry and Ginny were all going to the Burrow for Christmas this year. As much as Hermione wanted to see her parents, they had decided it was safer for her to go to the Weasleys'.
Ginny was still obsessing about the Seer thing. Whenever she started to talk about it Harry just tuned out because he couldn't bear to think about it.
Meanwhile, in the outside world, Voldemort was either abroad or in hiding, as he and his Death Eaters hadn't been seen in weeks.
"Strange, isn't it?" commented Hermione one day in DADA.
"Yeah," replied Harry, who was concentrating on his revision essay on Cornish Pixies. He grinned as he remembered Seamus Finnigan laughing at Lockhart's description of the pixies - 'the foulest creatures known to wizardkind!', - Lockhart's spell having no effect on the pixies and him leaving it all up to Hermione, Ron and Harry to catch the pixies.
"Maybe he's taken himself and his Death Eaters on a Christmas holiday," joked Ron.
Hermionr smiled but jumped when Professor Wingley passed their table. "Good work, Harry," she said. Hermione scowled when Professor Wingley's back was turned.
"Harry, you haven't been having any.....flashes....or....visions, lately, have you? I mean, you know, with your scar and all....." she trailed off.
"No, I'd have told you if I had," was Harry's curt reply.
These days, tension was high between Harry and Hermione. It was not because of Hermione's mysterious ability, far from that. Harry thought it was a bit silly sometimes - but he just felt that Hermione was sort of taking away his best friend, Ron. Not that she was doing it purposely, he knew that. But he felt alone a lot more these days. Maybe it was time to realise it would always be like that.

And that's all for now. Feel free to criticise it or moan at me because I took so long to update, I don't mind, I deserve it.
