The days passed at Hogwarts, without much event.
Careful preparations began for Halloween. Pumpkins were being grown by Hagrid, bats charmed by Flitwick and knights of armour cleaned by Filch. Soon Halloween arrived, and with it, McGonagall's carefully prepared speech. She had spent the last two weeks perfecting it as to not frighten or scare the students. Finally, three hours before the Halloween feast, she had decided what to say. She was very nervous and anxious about it. Then the time arrived.
"Students," she began. "Now that the feast is finished, I have something very important to say, so please do not allow your attention to waver or wander. That said, let me begin. The world, as you know it now, is becoming a dangerous and dark place. There are dark and difficult times ahead.* Parents' concerns, brought to my recent enlightment, are that there is not enough security in Hogwarts for their dear children. Having had children myself, I realise that their concerns are not unfounded.
'So, I have asked Professor Wingley to teach extra Defence Against the Dark Arts lessons in the evenings, not for extra credit, no, but for extra protection.
Aswell as that, the other teachers and I have decided to have two Head Girls and Boys this year. So give a big congratulations to Mr. Harry Potter and Ms. Hermione Granger, both of Gryffindor." Professor McGonagall sat down, beaming, as a storm of clapping and cheering broke out from the Gryffindor table, glad that her speech had produced a happy atmosphere, rather than a terrified one.
Harry sat at the Gryffindor table, in total shock. Never in a million years would anyone make him Head Boy! He was always breaking rules! Then he remembered that his father, a real troublemaker, had become Head Boy too, despite never being a prefect. He knew his father would be proud.
Hermione, meanwhile, was ecstatic. She had envied Ron during the past month. But now all three of them - Ron, Harry and Hermione - were Head Boys and Girl!
Ron thumped Harry on the back and hollered a congratulations.
He was delighted, as he would no longer have to feel guilty when he remembered how much Hermione had wanted to be Head Girl. He congratulated Hermione too, giving her an awkward hug which lasted less than a second.
****
On his way up to the common room to celebrate, harry was stopped by Sophia Sanderson. "Congratulations, Harry," she said softly. She twirled a finger around her sandy-blonde hair, her emerald green eyes looking at him intently, waiting for an answer.
"Yeah, um thanks," he managed to reply, mesmerised by her interest in him. It was Ron who really liked her. Ron also liked Hermione - and Professor Wingley!
"Professor McGonagall said that if the Head Boys and Girls wished to apply for a dorm of their own, to let her know tomorrow," Sophia said quickly and breathlessly.
"Um, yeah, I mean, sure, I'll ask Hermione and Ron. Do you want to apply for a dorm of our own?"
Only after he'd said it, did he realise how stupid it sounded.
"I mean - Ron, Hermione and I - and you of course -"
"Yeah, I'd be delighted to share with a few brave and brilliant Gryffindors. She gave him a huge smile and headed for her own common room.
Harry could see how Ron liked her. _________________ ♥*x*x Remember x*x*♥

Chapter fourteen - The Remembrance Dance (Part One)
The next day, Ron and Harry were making their way down to breakfast when they saw a notice on the common room noticeboard.
The Remembrance Dance -
a ball / memorial service
for students' and teachers'
relatives who've died -
is to take place on the
14th of November.
Dress robes must be worn
and a dancing partner is also
advised.
Professor M. McGonagall
Headmistress
Harry groaned. It was like the Yule Ball all over again. "So, who are you going to take?" Harry asked Ron, who turned red. "Hermione or Sophia?"
"Well, Hermione did say," Ron put on a girly voice which, to Harry, sounded nothing like Hermione, "the next time there's a ball, ask me first, not as a last resort! So I guess I have to take her."
"What - you don't want to?" quizzed Harry. Ron blushed again. "Of course not - it's not that I don't want to, it's just - "
"Sophia." Harry finished his sentence for him. "Yeah. What about you, Ginny, is it?"
"I suppose. Sophia is really nice but Ginny's my girlfriend and I don't want to end it - Ginny's way nicer than Sophia. Anyway, how come we've never noticed Sophia before now?" Harry looked sheepish.
"She transferred from Beauxbatons in our fifth year, and I guess she just wasn't in any of our classes until this year."
"Oh, right."
****
At breakfast, Hermione beamed as Ron sat down beside her. "Good morning, boys," she chirped. "You sound like Umbridge," muttered Harry, as he helped himself to a plate of bacon and eggs.
"Why are you so happy?" questioned Ron. Hermione smiled mysteriously in response and turned in earnest to Lavender Brown and started talking to her. Harry caught fragments of their conversation. He heard 'Ron' at least three times, 'dresses' twice and the mention of songs and dances. After breakfast, they were on their way to DADA when a cheeky Hufflepuff fifth-year asked Harry to the dance. Harry's immediate response was, of course, no, as he was going with Ginny.
"Most wanted, eh, Harry?" chuckled Dean Thomas. "Who're you taking then, Dean?" "Parvati, of course, only if you don't mind Harry," Dean replied, referring to the Yule Ball, when Harry took Parvati Patil. "Nah, I'm taking Ginny," said Harry, and Dean looked painfully embarassed. "What about you, Seamus?" asked Ron casually. "I'm taking Sophia Sanderson," smirked Seamus. "What?!!" exclaimed Ron. "Sophia - Sophia-S-S-Sanderson?!!he spluttered. "You asked her and she said yes?" said Harry, looking amused. "Well, no," admitted Seamus. "I'm asking her today. "Good luck with that," grumbled Ron.

"Now, who can tell me what type of jinx is the best for distracting your opponent?" Professor Wingley asked the class in DADA.
Immediately, Hermione's hand shot up.
"Decoy Detonator," muttered Ron to Harry and Harry laughed.
"Yes, Hermione?" smiled Professor Wingley, not surprised.
"The Logammac jinx, which bewitches your opponent and distributes sound, movement and smells which only your opponent can hear, see and smell, causing them to be distracted for up to fifteen minutes. This causes them to think they are going crazy, when, in fact, they are having a bewitched hallucination. The incantation is logamma," she finished, slightly out of breath.
"Quite exact," complimented Professor Wingley. "Now, get into threes, taking it in turns to jinx each other while the two who are not being jinxed exchange comments, questions and queries while writing notes. Your homework is to finish the notes you started in class. Away you go!" she said.
The rest of the class was quite memorable.
"Am I supposed to be seeing, hearing and smelling things that are unusual?" asked Ron nervously, after Harry had jinxed him. "Yes, don't you ever listen?" said Hermione, exasperated. "Um, ok," said Ron said, moving around nervously.
"Hold still, Ron, I need to see your face and convey your feelings," joked Harry and the trio all started laughing.
During Herbology they had a free class, as Professor Sprout was in the hospital wing after being attacked by a Venemous Tentacula (don't worry, Hufflepuffs, she'll be alright).
"What should I say to Hermione?" hissed Ron to Harry as they walked down the lake to spend their free period. "I dunno. Wanna go ball with me? It works for me," shrugged Harry. "Fat lot of help you are!" Ron said. Harry spotted Ginny at the lake, who had a free Potions class and he headed towards her. "Good luck, mate," he called back to Ron.
Ron approached Hermione nervously, who was already sitting under a tree by the lake, doing her DADA homework.
"Hey," she smiled as Ron sat down beside her.
"Hi," croaked Ron, his throat suddenly dry. He cleared it and started again.
"Listen, Hermione - if you want to - only if you want to - if not, just as friends - it's ok if you don't want to -"
Hermione interrupted him.
"Ron," she laughed. "What is it that you're trying to say?"
"Hermione. You're a - a beautiful girl and obviously in great demand, but I was wondering..." He spoke very fast, it was hard to understand what he was saying.
"What?" It was barely more than a whisper.
"Will - will you accompany me to the Remembrance Dance?"
"OF COURSE!" screeched Hermione, hugging Ron so hard he toppled over and some first years looked on in alarm.
"Of course, of course, of course I'll go with you! I've been waiting for you to ask me!
"You - have?" said Ron, stunned.
"Yep. And Harry said it was only a matter of time."
"He - did?"
"Yes - but, oh Ron, I'm so happy!"

Yay! They're going to the Remembrance Dance together!
Part 3 coming soon if I get feedback! _________________ ♥*x*x Remember x*x*♥
"Watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it."
- Roald Dahl.
During the next few days, Hermione talked of nothing but the dance, to anyone and everyone who would listen. She was asking Harry's opinion on what to wear to the dance in Transfiguration when Professor McGonagall told her to be quiet and get on with her work! Hermione blushed scarlet and looked down at her parchment.
Finally, November 14th arrived.
Harry was taking Ginny, Dean was taking Parvati, Terry Boot (from Ravenclaw) was taking Lavender, Seamus was taking Sophia (Ron was slightly jealous but because he was taking Hermione he didn't really mind) and Neville was taking Luna.
On the night of the ball Ron confessed how nervous he was to Harry.
"Relax," advised Harry. "And enjoy yourself." Thankfully, if you remember, Fred and George had bought Ron new dress robes at the end of his fourth year.
He wore these (which were not maroon and frilly, but blue to match his eyes) and Harry wore new green ones. They had arranged to meet the girls in the Entrance Hall and then proceed into the Great Hall together.
The boys walked down the Grand Staircase, which was jammed with students milling all around. They reached the Entrance Hall and waited close to the doors of the Great Hall.
First to come down were Luna and Sophia.
Luna looked quite distinctive from the crowd, as she was wearing a bright orange dress with a lime green belt and a matching orange pendant in the shape of a carrot. In her hair was an exotic-looking orange and yellow flower, which Neville told Harry he had grown for her.
Sophia, meanwhile, was wearing a midnight blue floaty dress and a blue star sapphire around her neck, complete with a sparkling blue tiara perfectly setting off her sandy blonde ringlets. Neville took Luna's arm, and Seamus took Sophia's (who gave a waggle of her fingers to Harry and Ron) and disappeared.
Then, in a rush of red hair and pink silk, Ginny hurtled down the stairs straight into Harry's arms. She hugged him fiercely and stepped back to admire him. "I really like the green. It brings out your eyes," she complimented. Ginny was wearing a silk pink dress, decorated with the occasional rosebud. Around her neck was a silver rose pendant and her hair flew loose. "You look great yourself," Harry murmured, taking her hand and kissing it gently.
"As do you," giggled Ginny.
Ron, meanwhile, was gazing at a girl who was slowly descending the stairs with Lavender and Parvati. Parvati wore a light yellow wraparound dress the colour of the morning dawn with her hair screwed tight up in a bun. Lavender wore a strapless gold dress ending in voluminous puffs of satin.
The beautiful girl was Hermione.
To Harry, she looked stunning. Even nicer than she had looked at the Yule Ball.
To Ron - well, he wouldn't be able to describe her. She looked too wonderful, too beautiful, too fantastic, too unbelievable, too perfect to be real.
Her dress was purple silk, with diamantés in the shape of stars all over it. There were sparkles on it as well. The neckline was slightly wavy, as were the straps. Around her neck was a white silver star and on her wrist a matching bracelet and earrings on her ears. But her hair was indescribable. It was not straight and sleek as it had been at the Yule Ball nor was it its usual bushy self. It was slightly wavy and, like Sophia's hair, curled into ringlets at the end. But it looked completely natural.
"Hi," she said, smiling shyly at Ron.
"Heh-Heh-Hello," stammered Ron.
"Shall we?" she nodded towards the Great Hall and the four of them (Harry, Ginny, Ron and Hermione) proceeded into the Great Hall.
As they stepped through the doors they all (except Hermione) gasped. On the walls of the Hall, instead of the usual banners, were sparkly silver star-shaped frames. As they watched one close by, a name and moving photo suddenly appeared on it. It was a smiling woman with long dirty blonde hair. The name read Marisa Lovegood. "Wow!" exclaimed Ginny. "It was Sophia's and my idea," explained Hermione. "You know, Harry, with the whole starry nights thing..." she suddenly looked unbelievably shy. Harry nodded. "Professor McGonagall asked us to help with the ideas for the ball as we're the Head Girls." Harry and Ron glanced nervously at each other. Should they have helped too? "Don't worry about it," Hermione said, interpreting the looks on their faces correctly.
Looking around the rest of the Great Hall, they noticed many other changes. The floor had been changed to a sparkly silver one, perfect for dancing on. The house tables had disappeared and in their place were hundreds of small silver star-shaped tables. Up at the top of the Great Hall, however, was a long silver table with a scroll and quill upon it. Several Students were waiting in line for it. "You see," Hermione told them. "You write the name of a deceased person on the scroll and it appears along with a photo on a star. Great way to remember them, isn't it?" "It's great," Ron smiled at Hermione. Harry then realised who Marisa Lovegood was. "The name we saw on the star, Marisa Lovegood was -"
"My mother."
Luna and Neville had joined them. "My mother," Luna repeated and smiled. "She was a very intelligent witch and I miss her often. Is there anyone you guys are going to put on a star?" she asked the group curiously. "Yeah my parents...and some other people," Harry muttered. Hermione was smiling, acting as if she hadn't heard Luna's question.
"Do you want to dance?" she asked Ron, whose ears turned red and allowed himself to be pulled onto the silver dance floor. Harry, meanwhile, started walking around the Hall, looking at the names on the stars. Occasionally he saw faces he knew. The smiling and waving face of Albus Dumbledore......the brave Hufflepuff Cedric Diggory.......Bertha Jorkins.......and many others he knew or looked familiar.
Ginny ran up to him, caught his hand and pulled him over to the long silver table where there was less a queue than there had been before as many people were dancing to Celestina Warbeck's 'I Need A Star To Brighten Up My Love' who was singing at the top of the Great Hall. She would be followed by the Weird Sisters and finally, the Star Girls, Hogwarts' own newly formed band.
"Come on," Ginny said softly to Harry. "It's better to get it over and done with."
He warily picked up the quill and nodded, agreeing with her. Finally, he began to write. James Potter, was the first name the quill scratched out. Then, Lily Potter and finally Sirius Black. As soon as he laid down the quill, something sparkled on the wall, amid the stars. It was writing!
There lies a place not far from here,
Where all the stars collide.
Shining, sparkling, glittering, dancing,
They watch us through their eyes.
And when you feel you need that star,
Just take it from the sky.
They give you hope, dreams and wishes,
And they will never die.
And place that star within your heart,
Where it remains forever more.
And though sometimes it fades from sight,
You know it's really there.
And when the morning dawn will break,
Just call upon your star.
It will guide you, show you, trust you,
And you will cry no more.
So pick a star and hold it close,
Place it in your heart.
And though that friend has left the earth,
You know they're always there.
Harry smiled as he finished reading the poem and it had faded away. He wondered who the writer was. Hermione came up and took the quill and Harry saw her write, Viktor Krum.
The words on the wall sparkled once more before fading away a few moments later.
"Oh look!" Ginny cried, pointing to a cluster of stars on the wall. Smiling photos of James Potter, Lily Potter, Sirius Black and Viktor Krum had appeared within four stars.
"Who wrote the poem?" Harry asked Hermione.
"I don't know," she replied, frowning slightly. "McGonagall arranged that bit. But anyway, I've got to go, Ron's waiting for me!" And she ran off, very happy indeed.
The night was a magical one.
They ate at the star-shaped tables, Harry, Ginny, Hermione, Ron, Luna and Neville all sitting together. It was a fun and pleasant meal, with the food floating down to your table from the sky (popping out of nowhere) when you ordered it.
Then they got back up to dance, and the Star Girls, the last musical act to come on, started with a fast song and friendship and love.
The group was comprised of fifth year Ravenclaw, Hufflepuff and Gryffindor girls. They sang and harmonised well together.
Then, at five minutes to midnight, the last song came on. It was slow, and as everyone danced, glitter fell down from the ceiling and dropped on them. Everyone gasped, amazed. As the last note was sung, couples around Harry and Ginny started kissing. Harry leaned in towards Ginny and as their lips met he felt a tingling sensation run down his spine. He was happy, but yet at the same time, sad. Happy that he had Ginny and sad at the loss of all the people on the stars. It was a slow and lingering kiss and as they broke away, Harry Potter knew that he could trust Ginny with the contents of Hermione's prophecy. But that would have to wait. Tonight had been sad enough.

Chapter fifteen - A Strange Combination
Harry woke up in the boys' Head dorm, where Ron and Harry had moved to a few days ago. He got up and glanced at Ron, who was fast asleep and whimpering, "Hermione!" occasionally. Harry snorted and threw his Sneakoscope at Ron , who just twitched and whimpered again. The Head common room was empty, the fire had burnt out in its grate. Harry grabbed his bag and ran down to breakfast. He sat between Seamus and Dean, the latter looking sullen and grumpy, the former looking smug and arrogant.

Whoever put 'Troll' in the poll, surely it's not that bad? And if you did vote that, please tell me why it is so bad so I can make it better.
Ok, I have changed the name of chapter fifteen to 'A Strange Combination'. The name of chapter sixteen will now be instead 'Ginny's knowledge'.

(Continuation) Chapter fifteen- A strange combination
"What's up?" Harry asked Dean, who was cutting up his bacon ferociously. Dean grunted and Seamus answered for him, "Parvati went off with Ernie MacMillan last night."
"Oh," Harry didn't know what to say.
"And she said that he was better of with Loony Lovegood."
"Do you have to rub it in?!" cried Dean angrily and threw his knife and fork down on the table with a clatter. He pulled his bag out from under the table and stormed off. Seamus smirked. Harry looked at him in disgust and followed Dean.
When he reached the Head common room again, Harry sat down and Crookshanks jumped on his lap. He sat there for a while, stroking Crookshanks, until it was early afternoon but Ron, Hermione and Sophia still did not appear. He was about to go and find Ginny when he heard footsteps coming from the staircase that led to Hermione's and Sophia's dorm. He stood up quickly, pushing Crookshanks off his lap. Crookshanks gave a loud yowl and ran over to the girl who had just emerged into the common roo,.
"Hi, Crookshanks," cooed Hermione and then looked up at Harry. Her no-longer curly wavy hair, now just bushy, was in a pony and she looked bright-eyed and well-rested.
"Hey, Harry. Where's Ron?"
Harry sat back down and replied, "He's still asleep."
Hermione made no further comment and walked cautiously over to the window and peered out. "I wonder when it's going to start snowing?" she said.
Harry did not answer, he was picking up his things and heading out of the common room. "See you, Hermione. I'm off to look for Ginny," he called, and Hermione waved goodbye.
****
Harry caught up with Ginny by the lake, where she was walking with a couple of friends. She looked very windswept and her friends giggled as Harry approached them. "Hi," she said. She then smiled in response to her friends' goodbyes. She leaned in for a kiss but Harry said firmly, "No. I have to tell you something. Is there anywhere we can go that's private?"
Ginny looked hurt, but said, "I know just the place." She pulled him gently over to the castle and led him to a deserted classroom. But when they walked in, somebody was already in there.
