Been kind of lurking around here, getting ready for Book 7's arrival, and had been giving some thought to the character of Aunt Petunia. Mind you...I've only read the books once each.
Is there anything that would prevent a Muggle from creating a potion, as long as they have a book on potions and the ingredients to create the potion?
Perhaps Petunia had dabbled in potions making by reading her sister's books. I was thinking that she could had made Polyjuice potion and had taken the form of her sister. She would have definitely had anything personal needed within easy reach. And why?? The worst thing she could do to Lily is to try to destroy her reputation and Lily's relationship with James. What if she did that by coming on to Snape, disguised as Lily???
Yes, this is an entirely unworked out theory, and I have started re-reading the books to see if it has any backing or this speculation is shut down immediately.
But I thought it was worth considering, as it opens up some interesting doors.
Any ideas???

I just read that JK said in an interview that muggles can't make potions. she says that in any potion there will come a point where you have to stir it with your wand, which is a magical component. so if you are unmagical, you can't make a potion.

But could a muggle create a potion using a witch's wand???? Or has it been established that a wand only will work with its owner?? |

well the question was if a muggle could make a potion, and she said no, and the bit about a wand was her explanation. but I think she also said somewhere (but I'm not certain on this) that if a muggle got a hold of a wand absolutely nothing would happen.
