yeah I agree. And why else would Umbrige have ended up with his eye? Obviously it was a ministry cover up... If Mad eye where still alive, He'd have it.... And the fact of no body turning up, Wouldnt Voldy-poo want to make a bigger army of zombies? Of course there would have been no body!! Simple logic people!!

i never noticed any of this in too much detail since i just thought he was flat out dead. but now that i read all that it does sound like its possible

It would be kind of weird if they found his eye, but he was still alive, but I guess it's possible.

Well when I saw the title I was thinking flat out, no he's dead but I spose some of these arguments are pretty good but then I realised, she closed up the series and she would not leave something as big as that untold

Most likely Moody was found by the ministry and they covered it up but after reading some of these ideas I think its possible he could have lived. Upon Mundungus apparating Voldemort could have stunned Moody for the purpose of questioning or leverage(I dont think Bill ever said it was the killing curse). Leading from here Moody could have lost his eye and been captured by Voldemort or he escaped. Who knows what might have happened to him after that. If he had been caught they could have eventually killed him and if he escaped who knows why he didnt show up later.

Very interesting...

I think the quote "a man with a bandage over one eye" is too specific to be overlooked. It looks like one of those tiny clues JKR drops. Someone should ask her about this at her next interview.

I think we would all like to think Mad-Eye was still alive, including myself. Maybe he is.

By the way, the only thing keeping his fake eye on is a strap. It could have easily fallen off.

Umbridge could have tried to accio the eye, couldn't she? But then she also could have found the body and not mentioned it, but if he was alive what did she do with him? I don't think she would have let him go, and if he had been injured I wondered if he could have escaped himself?

If it was just a strap keeping it in there it seems very likely it rolled out, considering he fell from a broom and probably hit something when he landed as well.

I also just assumed that he was dead but this is really interesting :D I would love if he really was alive! <3

Ever thought of possibility that Mandangus took Moody's eye and then when he escaped it accidently fell somewhere where Ministry or Death Eaters found him.Maybe Moody was alive,but he didn't want to appear cause of his safety.It doesn't make any sense,but his moto was always "SAFETY FIRST" if I record well.

I don't think the man with a bandage over one eye is Moody at all.

He steps forward to speak to Hermione(Bellatrix) and asked for his children or something like that. But, his voice was not a growl or grunt, and Harry/Ron/Hermione definitely would of recognised Moddy's voice.

I rather think the man was brutally hurt in one eye, after pleading for his children(child) before, and he does not know when to stop. After all, they ARE his children.

my logic is.
Mad Eye is a real hard player, and he would die before he let anyone get their grubby hands on his crazy eye.

I'm sure there would be an explanation of him still being alive if there was an eighth book coming out, which I seriously doubt.

Yeah, I made myself a eighth book, my teacher rated it 7/10, its really good, my favourite chapter is "The Sword of Godric Gryffindor"
